With spring just around the corner, the KCC strava widget had tracked almost 2000 miles covered by members in the last week. When snow covered most of our roads for half the week and temperatures barely climbing above 5C this is a huge total, which would be even more impressive if a few of the ‘deniers’ signed up. On Monday 12th January, members of KCC were treated to an evening of cycle maintenance training and advice. 12 in total were accommodated in the Community Hall with the small number allowing everyone space and assistance to work on their own bikes. A fairly quiet week for KCC as everyone gets back to their routines after the holidays. We still managed to squeeze in club road runs on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday,  MTB spins on Saturday and Sunday and two full spin classes on Thursday. On Saturday 20th December a well decorated bunch of 26 cyclists were off on their annual pilgrimage to The Cuan . Some feeder groups got out before dawn and all collected in Killinchy for a 9.30 run to Strangford, assisted by a strong Westerly and Drew’s whistle! After a long week of wet & windy then frosty conditions only a little cycling was achieved. The routes & dates have been confirmed for three of the biggest sportives in Northern Ireland in 2015. Online entries are now open and they are on our doorstep!   Spring Classic – 22 March  70 km of familiar roads to many of our members, centering on the historic Montalto Estate in Ballynahinch. Winter Wednesday night road runs continue to attract good numbers with 15 or so out again last week to enjoy good company and ‘winter paced’ cycling around some of the local back roads.
