Winter finally closing in
Winter Wednesday night road runs continue to attract good numbers with 15 or so out again last week to enjoy good company and ‘winter paced’ cycling around some of the local back roads.
A couple of unused bikes in spin class again this Thursday with some members involved in Christmas functions etc. So once again all members and non members are welcome to reserve a bike on the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/864895493544502/?fref=ts The classes are a good way to boost fitness and get to know some of the regulars irrespective of the weather!
Winter has started to close in, an early frost on Friday night curtailed the Saturday morning road run with some members deciding to head to the forests instead. Fortunately by Saturday morning the temperature had lifted and normal service was resumed. A hardy bunch set out at 7.30 for the early bird run on Sunday morning, and possibly secured the best weather of the day although it didn’t feel like that at the time!
Some stats from Strava – 1500 club miles last week – just about half of our usual mid summer weeks. The webmaster reports that over 750 new visitors have reached the website in the last month, and 1000 in total, perhaps word has spread of our new look style?
Club sponsors Chain Reaction Cycles are holding a festive open event on Saturday 13th December from 9am-12.30pm. All you have to do is arrive at the Boucher store by bike and you’ll be greeted with a goody bag, a discount voucher for spends over £100, and complimentary cake/hot drinks. Traffic is sure to be busy in the area so please cycle safely and confidently if attending the event.
