Bumper Turnout for Christmas Cycle
On Saturday 20th December a well decorated bunch of 26 cyclists were off on their annual pilgrimage to The Cuan . Some feeder groups got out before dawn and all collected in Killinchy for a 9.30 run to Strangford, assisted by a strong Westerly and Drew’s whistle!
A couple of minor detours here and there meant that all riders, regardless of speed, arrived in Strangford around the same time. The welcome from our friends at the Cuan was warm and the food was excellent.
After food a few decided to face the headwind home and the remainder hopped on the ferry for a spin up the ‘other side’. The run home was more eventful with an emergency pit stop for DR (!) a double puncture dilemma for Jonny and a bemused Ross discovering he also had a flat after watching Jonny make his second change.
The most committed of fitness enthusiasts managed to grab something isotonic in the Poachers Pocket to round off a great day out.
Big thanks to Drew for organising everyone & to The Cuan for their good food and warm welcome.
