Interclub TT league round 1

Round 1 of the East Down interclub league was on Tuesday 14th April. 28 riders from Killinchy CC, Shimna Wheelers, LLRCC and visiting clubs met at the Spa for a 7pm start before heading to Seaforde and back.  Well done to all riders on a tough 10 mile course.  Big thanks to La Lanterne Rouge CC for organising.  Round 2 will be hosted by Shimna Wheelers on the Lacken rd, Tuesday 28th April meeting at Ballyroney car park.

K150 plans underway & Inaugural Spring Classic turns out a Classic

With many members enjoying a day off on St Patricks day a full test ride of the new K150 route was undertaken. There are no major changes to the route from last year, however a couple of improvements have been made following feedback from organisers and participants. Paul Crossen on the Tour of Ards

  The Tour of Ards is one of the most prestigious races in the local calendar, a one day ‘classic’ race pitting Category 1,2,3 racers together without handicap around the fast rolling roads of the Ards Peninsula. Following his big win at the John Moore Memorial Paul Crossen was upgraded from A4 to A3, and didn’t waste any time getting on the reserve list for the oversubscribed event. Another KCC Podium at Kilbroney

After the conclusion of the Spring XC league last weekend, several club riders entered the opening round of the Ulster XC championships hosted by Dromara CC in Kilbroney. Again club members turned out with their kids, Rudi Maitland had the youth result of the day finishing 4th in the U6s. KCC Racing Success

KCC are celebrating multiple wins and podium finishes across adult and children’s races within the last week. On Saturday 28th February Paul Crossen lined out in the ‘A4’ category at the John Moore Memorial Road Race in Carryduff. Congratulations to Paul who lead a breakaway in the last lap, and held off the challengers to take 1st place in a runaway victory. Road Race Season Underway and a mudbath at Spring XC league

Annaclone GP, hosted by Banbridge is the traditional curtain raiser to the road racing season, and this year Drew was racing in the A1,A2,A3 race, and Andy’s McCullough and Evans entered the A4.     The A4 race was first off and both KCC riders were well up in the bunch when a crash on the penultimate lap unfortunately ended Andrew Evans’ race.
