Kids and big kids rockin’ Ormeau Park

Published by admin on

Its been a busy week so forgive the late post. There was also plenty going on last week so plenty of pics to follow. The kit order has been finalised and Powerhouse Sports will have items available to view online very soon. Details of the fitting night are on the Facebook page too. If you can’t make the fitting night, then Powerhouse are happy to accommodate visitors to their offices in Hillsborough.

Never good to hear of cyclists coming down off their bikes so everyone was relieved that Stephen McC was able to cycle home and Jill has been out and about again enjoying half term holidays after their encounter with a car bonnet in Cloughey.

Top marks to Stuart for another great result in the NI Duathlon event at Nutts Corner, coming in under the hour.

Andy M and Paul C put in big showings at the Marland reliability as they continue to build for the race season. 80 miles at 22mph anyone? thought not!

XC Season kicked off in Ormeau Park, and many members took their kids along for some fun in the mud. Patrick Harkin raced U12, Ulster U8 Champion Reuben Maitland made the step up to U10; Zac Parker and Gracie Maitland raced in their respective U8s; & finally Josh Parker & Rudi Maitland tore up the U6s finishing 1st and 3rd respectively! Well done to all.

After the kids races, Geoff & Michael entered their first races, and pushed each other all the way round the B race, finishing just a second apart after 45 minutes! Youth won over experience as Michael tcame in 9th with Geoff 10th. Great finishes for first races, looking forward to watching these guys progress.

Chairman Ross and Scott rode in the A race with Scott coming in 11th. A strong start to the year and with a new XC machine in the post the season looks bright.
