Another KCC Podium at Kilbroney
After the conclusion of the Spring XC league last weekend, several club riders entered the opening round of the Ulster XC championships hosted by Dromara CC in Kilbroney.
Again club members turned out with their kids, Rudi Maitland had the youth result of the day finishing 4th in the U6s. Patrick Harkin and Reuben Maitland both performed well in the U12s and U10s respectively.
In the adult races Geoff Maitland turned out with his shiny new steed which proved a worthy investment as he was in place to take a podium finish in Section 4. Unfortunately a ripped tyre ended his race in the final lap. A disappointing end, but having suffered a different sort of rip last week maybe he will live this one down a bit quicker 🙂
Scott was flying the flag in S3. Lots of hard work on and off the road is paying off with Scott making a podium appearance finishing an impressive third, well done!
Away from the racing, club rides are ongoing with Wednesday nights, Saturday and Sunday morning rides catering for all abilities. The club is very pleased to be able to offer the use of one of two Vitus road bikes, courtesy of our sponsors Chain Reaction Cyles. The Bikes (one Small/Female, and one Medium/Large) are available for members and prospective members to use on a short term basis, contact one of the committee if you need to borrow one or know someone who would like to try riding a quality road bike without the expense or commitment of purchasing.
Finally – if you are reading this and have not received an email or seen a post regarding the new KCC kit order, please get in touch with a committee member ASAP – the order closes on Sunday 15th March.
