K150 plans underway & Inaugural Spring Classic turns out a Classic
With many members enjoying a day off on St Patricks day a full test ride of the new K150 route was undertaken. There are no major changes to the route from last year, however a couple of improvements have been made following feedback from organisers and participants. The event is in the diary for Sunday 16th August, so mark it in the diaries & expect great fun, scenery, a few uppy bits and a worthy cause.
St Patricks Day also saw one of the first TT’s of Spring taking place in Fermanagh, and Paul Crossen did his last time trial as a thirty something picking up second place. Well done Paul (getting used to saying that)
The weekend brought with it summer conditions and the Saturday run headed to the seaside to celebrate. Andrew Evans went to a different seaside completing the Titanic-Torr Audax event covering a shade under 150 miles!
Sunday brought even more warm and bright conditions as the inaugrual CRC Spring Classic tempted around 25 members into the beautiful Montalto Estate at Spa. The 70km (44 mile) route could easily be dismissed as not too big a challenge only by those who didn’t take part. Plenty more pics from out on the course can be viewed and purchased at www.industryimage.com
It was a perfect early season tester and the conditions were ideal, everyone who took part – from those pushing the pace in the leading group to those tackling their first sportive – had a great day out. Well done to the organisers for a well run event, superb surroundings, a testing route and lots of excellent friendly marshalls around the course. With chips, beer and a massage to finish whats not to like.
A big congratulations to to Drew and Jill who were ‘Campiones’ for the day, providing leadership and encouragement to the groups around the course. Both of them did the club proud.
Finally well done to all members for getting out on your bikes and helping the club amass over 4500 miles on Strava last week, brilliant.
