We’re primarily a leisure club at KCC but nonetheless its always great to see the black and orange jersey on a bike being ridden in anger. It was was our privilege therefore to see TT specialist Paul Crossen out in Omagh at the Irish Championships Elite Mens TT. Paul says he gave it his all on the night but was slightly disappointed his power output was down. On this occasion its safe to say the result Read more

Unfortunately the event clashed with the popular Bangor Coastal but we had plenty of presence there too:   Jane’s Gran Fondo (Mourne Route) Having trained for and completed the Wicklow 200 a Read more

Killinchy take on Wicklow Hills

A few months back one esteemed member suggested it would be a good idea to decamp to the Wicklow 200 in early June to tackle one of the longest and toughest sportives on the Irish cycling calendar. The idea went down so well among members that the organisation of said event was quickly lumped upon our treasurer due to local knowledge. Fast forward to 6.15am on 7th June and 21 cyclists are standing on the Read more

KCC’s first Cycling Ireland coaching session

On the 19th May KCC’s newly trained coaches invited members’ children to attend the inaugural youth foundation coaching session at Killinchy Community Hall.   There were  doubts as to whether the heavens would open and put a dampener on this first session, however the backup plan wasn’t required and at around 6pm the clouds broke for the children and their parents arriving and the rain stayed away.   With a group of 11 children, the coaches started off Read more

Shrigley Time Trial 12 May 2015

The first KCC event of the year was our interclub time trial. Unfortunate timing meant a clash with LLRCC’s annual Mallorca trip but 15 entered in total including a few KCC members giving time trialling a first go. It is certainly a testing course – uphill with a strong headwind on the way out – Darragh Cross felt a long way and the turn was a welcome sight. Many thanks to Ross for organising and taking a Read more
