KCC supporting Saintfield Development Cycle

Published by admin on

Following their successful "back to cycling Saturday" on 11th April, the girls took part in their first Sportive of the season, joined by the 'B' run, at the Saintfield charity 30 mile cycle on Sunday 17th May. A great turn out for both groups looking good in in their new kit, everyone arrived bright and early for sign on and the obligatory photo shoot before taking to the roads with the main group.

This was a good opportunity for KCC boys and girls to join in a Sportive together and the mutual support was greatly appreciated by less experienced riders along the route. The main coffee stop and tray bakes were very welcome before individuals and smaller groups left to finish the route back to Saintfield. A few Belles got lost along the way and a few couldn't resist the homing beacon of The Poachers Pocket where they were joined by the majority of the KCC group from the cycle.

A special mention has to go to Ingrid Gallen who managed to add an additional 3 miles to her Strava activity without leaving her seat or setting her wine glass down! An achievement indeed especially since her average speed also improved!

Well done to Gemma C Wilson and Karen Wilson both out on their first Belles Sportive and hopefully it won't be their last!
