Winter has arrived

For a club with over 115 members it was a relatively quiet week for many. However the Wednesday night club run had 11 out on one of the better nights of the week covering 40+ miles around the lit up roads of Belfast and then splitting for home at Ballygowan. Unfortunatley due to the strong winds and rain some of the usual weekly club runs were cancelled due to H&S etc, but it didn’t stop Read more

Slipping & Slidding weekend (with some sun) for KCC

Weekend of the 21st & 22nd saw eight KCC members (& an XMTB blow in) hit the trails of Tollymore for the first time, and we can all honestly say everyone returned back to their vehicles with big smiles on their faces. Even though the terrian was nothing like they had ridden before, and there were spills and falls, the craic was mighty and the dirt was very dirty ;-). As if playing in the Read more

CX racing at a very wet & muddy Bangor course

Due to the race being a KCC local event, we had more entries at this venue than any other race to date, with four adults competing at different disciplines and several children taking part in the MTB support races. First off was young Josh Parker who has moved up to under 8’s. It was his first race in category; however it didn’t put him off when sitting along the start line with the older kids Read more

Neil Parker’s report on the Lough 2 Lough 500

3 days, 330 miles, 12k calories – the mid-life crisis! So this year was the year of a big birthday (and no prizes for guessing which one). I think the mid-life crisis set on a few years back when I bought a bike, but the fact I can’t swim ruled me out of doing Iron Man, and besides, it looks tough! A good friend in work was in the same situation as me, and after Read more

Maitland’s top the Podium!

Well done to father and son, Scott and Reuben on their recent races.  They both got 1st place on their categories in last weeks XC TT event hosted by Maryland wheelers.  This week young Reuben dug deep and won the first round of the Ulster CX series in Lurgan Park!  Really well done!

Fun times at the club BBQ!

Around forty members and twenty kids turned out at the community hall for the annual club BBQ last Saturday.  The kids had fun on the bouncy castle and played at the park while the big kids enjoyed the rugby and craic!  A bike course was also setup for kids in the playing fields. Thanks to the school PTA for the loan of the BBQ, all the helpers and to the people who brought food and drinks.

First Cyclo-cross race of the season

On Friday evening 11th September GP Kinning Cycles kick started the cyclocross season with their event at the Orangefield velodrome and playing fields in Belfast.  Killinchy CC’s XC machine Scott Maitland entered the MTB support race and finished up with a superb 2nd place.  For the CX B race it was the our own TT king Paul Crossen who flew the KCC flag, finishing an excellent 5th in the 6 lap race.  The final race of the Read more
