Week Ending 24/04/16

Club runs continue to gather numbers and are being well represented by male and female, especially the Thursday night loop route were the ladies are holding their own at over 18++ mph averages. Looking forward to seeing them at TT’s, open roads and off road events 🙂 KCC attended the interclub league TT with Scott being fastest KCC rider, we also had a few others representing KCC at different club TT’s. Week Ending 17/04/16

We had our new KCC ‘bridge the gap’ ride on Tuesday evening that gathered good numbers for the first outing, which shows that members (& non members) are willing to put the effort in to push themselves towards the faster club runs etc. Wednesday saw another one of DR’s epics and to his surprise 10 cyclists turned up (1 had to cut it short at Clough), so the remaining 9 headed on for what was Read more

Back to cycling Sunday

Great turnout for our Back to Cycling Sunday. We had approximately 15 cyclists out, making their way around the K25 route in what appeared to be the best Sunday this year so far weather wise!  A few more joined at the Poacher’s Pocket for coffee and scones which were delicious, as always, as well as the excellent service provided to us. We hope today has encouraged a few new members to the Club. Well done everyone! Read more

Final round of XC Spring League & we have KCC winners!

Once again KCC were very well represented today at the third and final round of the XMTB Spring XC League. First to hit the mucky trails were Elliot and Rudi in the Under 8’s, Elliot rode well to finish in 3rd place, with Rudi not too far behind. Next up was the Under 10’s with Reuben and Gracie. Gracie rode well in the tricky conditions and finished well up the field. Reuben rode strongly from the outset Read more

Killinchy CC run the first TT of the season

This years Inter Club League started with a 2 Up 10 mile TT organised by ourselves.  This is the 3rd time we have used this tough, undulating course which started at Shrigley, heading into the slight headwind through Raffery to the turn at Darraghcross. This of course meant there was a nice wee tail wind for the return to Shrigley.  Killinchy CC had a good turn out with 8 out of the 26 teams.  We also had visitors Read more

Tour of The North on our doorstep & kids get into biking

What a feeling to have one of the biggest races in Northern Ireland pass through our wee hamlet of a village Killinchy on Easter Monday. KCC was asked to help marshal and our members didn’t disappoint by stepping up to the plate and taking on the roles as marshals in our area, and by doing this they were able to watch the blistering pace these riders were setting around the four laps of the Killinchy Read more

Kids coaching course this Saturday at Killinchy PS

We are running a short course for primary school aged kids this Saturday (2nd April) at 2pm in the grounds of KPS.  This course is a trial run as we now have a few qualified Sprocket Rocket Instructors in the club and our aim is to run regular training courses for local kids through the Cycling Ireland’s Sprocket Rocket programme where children are taught four fundamental cycling skills; cornering, pedalling, braking and balance. As this is a trial run there will be no fee. Read more

Spring is in the air

Now the weather is turning for the better, some members are starting to bring out their bling bikes (or in Jonny’s case his new bike). The club had various different runs on during the week, with the return of the Thursday night ride which attracted good numbers on its first outing of the year (maybe it was the invite to The Poachers afterwards). Friday, Saturday & Sunday saw the biggest turn out for members attending Read more

First KCC member to enter M50 Open Race

Barry Liddell – First Road Race (off many we hope) John Haldane Memorial 28th February 2016 Having reached maturity ( some may disagree with this!) and being able to race in the Masters (M50 Category ) I finally decided to finally give open road racing a go , after upgrading to a Limited Competition license I targeted the John Haldane Memorial race hosted by Newry Wheelers on 28-2-2015 I viewed this as the ideal introduction Read more
