Spectacular Day for Killinchy 150 Charity Cycle

Published by admin on

The sun shone and spirits were high for the 5th annual Killinchy 150 Charity Sportive. Almost 300 cyclists descended on the tiny village of Killinchy on Sunday 19th August to support NI Hospice and to raise vital funds for 10 year old local child, Kodi Brown who is currently receiving treatment in Germany for a brain tumour.

The choice of three routes meant there was something for everyone from the hardcore cyclists who tackled the 150k and 80k hilly roads through the spectacular Co. Down countryside to the smaller 25k route that appealed to families and children. In a special effort to support Kodi, the club hosted a gymkhana circuit around the local parkland for the very young to participate on their bikes.

The club would like to say special thanks to their sponsors Poachers Pocket who provided an amazing BBQ at the end of the event and to Chain Reaction Cycles who provided essential mechanical support out on the roads.

Thanks also to  KCC club members, Johnson’s coffee , Knead Bakery , JD Sports Massage , Willowbrook Foods, North Down Fruit and Veg and Regency Cars for their support on the day.  The club would also like to thank the Crime Prevention Team who spent the day marking bikes for the steady stream of cyclists. The next big KCC event will be the annual CX event to take place in Delamont Park on 30 Septermber.
