KCC members attend various events during a busy week

Throughout the week our members of all ages attended various cycling and non cycling events.

We had the normal club runs for ice cream with several new faces joining in with the black and orange brigade.

One member decided to take the longest daylight day off and see how far he could cycle, and he finished with 306 miles with an 18.4av. This alone was a challenge of mental & physical fitness, as he would like to do a 24 hour endurance cycle in aid of Friends of the Cancer centre who looked after his sister in law who passed away with cancer.

What can we (KCC) say about our ladies of the club, if they are not winning Ulster swimming gold medals, venturing across Africa doing mammoth endurance events, they are doing Triathlons and park runs. And over the weekend we had Joe-Anne enter her first Triathlon event in a while, but she didn’t disappoint as she finished first in class (40-49 year olds), 5th overall in the ladies. We also had new member Claire Richardson attend a park run just showing how versatile & fit she actually is. Well done to both these ladies.

No road racing this weekend due to the Irish Nationals in Wexford, however there was still plenty of off road action at the Davagh Enduro – were Drew Armstrong finished 5th in the Pro Class, even with a bad spill on stage one were he lost considerable time to the rest of the field, however he pushed on to work his way back up and finish strong. On Sunday it was the turn of the youth to race – we had Elliot finishing 4th in U10, Reuben 4th in U12 and an amazing 1st place from Andrew Croskery in U14.

The club was out in full support of the Brain Wave charity event in Killyleagh were they all received a very good fry with donations of £5 towards the charity – On behalf of Errol and those involved they’d like to say thank you for the clubs support.

He’s done it, after weeks, months of training over huge miles and many an Audax Andrew Evans has completed the Celtic Knot 1000k Audax in Ireland over three days – He has proven that any challenge he sets out to do, he will complete and work hard to be successful at – WELL DONE from all at KCC 😉

Remember its our KCC BBQ 01/07/17 @ KCH kicking off at 14.00
