Week Ending 15th May
KCC just seems to be getting busier & busier, or it must be the good weather that is bringing out all these new and old cyclist. As a club we accumulated near 8,000 miles in a week (saying that just over half are on our strava, so just imagine what it would be like if every member who uses strava joined in)
17 members lead by Rod ‘Road’ McBride had a few wonderful days in Mallorca – which probably made up the majority of the KCC miles 😉
Tuesday night saw 18 riders attend the new development spin around a few back roads and from the ride we gained two new members and a lot of laughs from riders due to Micah getting a tow around the route behind his father lol
Andy E had a busy few days road racing and competing in the Ardscc Champion of Champions 25 mile TT – Well done on representing KCC yet again.
Andy McC got a surprise on his return from Mallorca when he received an upgraded license to race in A3 – welcome to another 2 laps of suffering 🙂
Saturday was open race day and 3 members entered the A4, however it wasn’t to be KCC’s day, as both Andy E and Michael H getting punctures on different sections of the circuit, with Michael’s causing damage to his rim as well. This left Scott to fight it out the end and try to salvage some points, however he got boxed in and didn’t make it for the sprint, however he finished very comfortable in the top 15.
Sunday was to be a test of strength in numbers for KCC as Discover Saintfield was holding their annual charity cycle, and my word we didn’t disappoint, as we had over a 1/3 (40 members) of our club attend the event. Well Done everyone and another great showing of the Black & Orange brigade on the roads.
Finally the club would like to make you aware that we have 6 bikes for use to members & potential new members (under supervision) that can be requested through any committee member – these are two Vitus road bikes (Large & Small), two MTB bike (medium 29’er & small 650b) & two kids road/cross bikes (24 & 26″ wheels)
