Killinchy out in force at Ormeau Park races

The horrendous weather in the week leading up to Sunday 16th November ensured proper cyclocross conditions awaited the 250+ riders taking part in the Ormeau Park races.

KCC were well represented across the categories, with Ross and Paul once again riding in the B race. Paul tweaked his pre-race routine by joining 17 others on Drew’s earlybird club run and it seems to have worked as he finished in the top third of a 50+ rider field. Ross was once again in the hunt, missing out on a podium place by a few seconds and finishing 4th.

Scott rode in the MTB race finishing 6th in another 50+ rider field, but looking at the results he also posted the fastest lap in the race.

Reuben made the podium with a super 3rd place finish in the U8 boys race, and cousin Gracie got the result of the day with a brilliant 2nd place in the U8 girls – her first ever race! Elliot & Rudi completed the U6 race with terrific finishes well up the field in one of the busiest races of the day.

Well done to all out having fun & representing KCC!

Finally, many will have read reports online of NDCC Chairman Ian Blayney having his bike stolen from his car rack in Ormeau Park. Thankfully he recovered the bike after giving chase, but it is a reminder to everyone to lock up their bikes and stay vigilant, especially at events such as races and sportives.   RG PC15802772571_a83df87007_o15185199403_9f963813ba_o15802755411_dfd5d4076a_o15619839220_08b68dee23_o15619450147_ca6d434d7f_o15187045963_d69380f068_o15619839630_3f5600b80e_o15619239408_500819e410_o
