New Members Welcome – Freewheelers Section

Published by admin on

Our Freewheelers Section was formed in 2021 in recognition of a need to provide:

  • an introductory level entry to club cycling for potential new Members, and
  • a more leisurely cycle for those members who sought a regular cycle that suited their requirements.

The Club decided to provide a regular weekly spin aimed at satisfying both the above criteria and this has resulted in a Sunday morning spin @ 09.00 from Killinchy Community Hall. Our guided cycles are led by experienced KCC Club cyclists who will do their best to ensure all participants have an enjoyable experience. Our cycles are generally about 30 miles at an approx speed of 12-13 mph with a coffee break around mid way. No-one is left behind and plenty of chat and banter is assured.

Since commencing this new Section approx 25 new members have joined the club having had their first club cycle with this group. We extend a warm welcome to non club members and invite you to come along and join us.

The Freewheelers is a great section to commence cycling with the club at but all cyclists are free to cycle with other groups within the club whose proposed distance, speed and start times work for them. You will experience the joy of cycling within a working peloton and have the opportunity to chat and enjoy the camaraderie that exists within the peloton.

We continue to rely on Club Members to ‘advertise’ this section within our club with your family, friends and work colleagues and try to encourage people to come along and give it a go.

If you are interested in joining us please just come along on a Sunday morning and join us. To help us plan for the weekly cycle we would ask all those intending to participate to confirm their intention to attend before 18.00 on a Saturday evening .

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to give Jeff Aiken a call on 07736 390233.
