K100 Chest Heart & Stroke information.
Please note there is no registration on the day.
👉Registration for the Killinchy Cycling Club K100 (km) – Chest Heart & Stroke
Registration on the day is between 8 am and 9:30 am at Killinchy Community Hall (27 Beechvale Rd, Killinchy BT23 6PH). If you are driving to the Community Hall, please comply with the instructions from the parking marshals. This is a residential area, and we would respectfully ask that you do not block any residents’ properties or obstruct access. Toilets will be available in the community hall.
Please come to the registration area and give your name. We will acknowledge your attendance and tick your name off our list as a registered participant and then provide you with a wrist band. Please attach this to your wrist and don’t lose it. This wrist band will have a telephone number that you can ring if you find yourself in difficulty. You will show this wrist band to gain access to the lunch stop at the Lakeside Inn carpark (25 Lake Road, Downpatrick).
👉At the beginning
Once you have your wrist band you are free to begin the cycle. It is beneficial to cycle in a group so feel free to form or join a group if you have not done so already. This is a challenging course so company may be useful for encouragement. Please note that there will be NO mass start. There will be motorbike support riders, marshals and a ‘broom wagon’ in support of you throughout the event. All riders must be away by 9:30 am.
To start you will exit the main gate and turn right and head down the hill to Balloo village. The roads have been clearly marked with ‘K100’ or arrows that will be on the road in orange paint giving clear directions. The Strava map for the route is attached should you wish to upload it to your device – https://www.strava.com/routes/2850045978139636670
👉Food Stop
The food stop will be at the Lakeside Inn as in previous years. We will have water, sandwiches, fruit, cakes etc at this stop to keep you replenished. Remember you are required to have a wrist band to access the food stop.
👉Mechanical support
We have a support vehicle this year as normal, and we can provide limited assistance. However, we encourage you to please bring with you all the supplies that you will need. The mechanical vehicle can be contacted on 07734274522. We suggest that you store this number in your phone. Motorcycles will also be covering the route on the day.
👉On your return to Killinchy Community Hall
In the past we have provided food and beverages at the end from our Club sponsor the Poachers Pocket. Unfortunately, this year this has had to be scaled back due to the ongoing health restrictions. Regretfully but as you will all understand the Community Hall will not be open this year for obvious reasons on your return.
Once you have completed the Chest Heart & Stroke K100 we encourage all riders to leave the Community Hall and not to gather around in groups. All proceeds from this event will go to NI Chest Heart and Stroke. We would like to thank you sincerely for your ongoing support.
We can recommend Balloo Inn should you wish to avail of a debrief. It has an outdoor seating area as does The Poachers Pocket in nearby Lisbane.
See you all on Sunday 8th. Registration closes at 21:00 07 August 2021.
