KCC riders earn valuable points
It was another cold, wet & windy weekend for racing, but that didn’t stop our roadies (oh wait hold on it did as Harky pulled the plug & lay in bed), but the others still bore the wrath of the terrible conditions to race in around the John Moore memorial circuit at Carryduff hosted by Castlereagh CC. Both were in the thick of it from start to finish, with the pair of them putting in good efforts at the front, the whole group stayed together throughout the race, so it was going to be a hard and strategically planned effort to the finish as it had changed this year to stay on the main road. And our boys (Scott & Phil) didn’t disappoint as they both came in 3rd & 4th respectively to earn valuable points as they move even closer to the jump into A3’s.
Thankfully I (Drew) was able to attend the event as a Trainee Comm, which was excellent and another learning curve to contend with as we take on more roles & tasks for our ever growing club.
Andy on the other hand had his work cut out for him when he travelled down to the McCann Cup in Omagh, as the A3’s were filled to capacity with an 85 strong field of entrants who basically stayed together until the final sprint, where Andy was happy to sit in with the group and risk an accident or injury trying to fight for points – wise decision as there’s plenty more racing days to come.
Other social events throughout the week saw, a good turn out for the 09.30 club run up and over the horse shoe bend and into Nutts Corner, whilst others still went out MTB at various venues.
