I’m a CXer, get me out of here!!

The Killinchy racers headed to The Jungle on Sunday for round 8 of the Ulster league.  This was host club Carn Wheelers first time using this outdoor adventure venue outside Moneymore and you can see why they chose it!  The lap started on a steep hill before winding down a slippy sweeping bend. Then there were the usual hurdle boards, tarmac, grass and then onto the first steep gravel/mud climb that soon sorted everyone out!  The climb was worth it though as next was a fast sweeping downhill section that tested handling skills – miss the rut or run away wide! Past the pits and it was uphill again, bike feeling heavier lap after lap (really need a second bike)!! After a nice wee forest section it was down again to the ‘race village’ area to do it all again!

7 black n orange men this week.  Young Elliot in the U10s, Reuben and Andrew in U12s, Drew in U16s, Andrew E in MTB support and Scott and myself (Ross) in the CX As.  The Maitland bros did well with 6th place each, young Andrew 9th, old Andrew 8th, another podium from Drew this week (3rd), Scott did well with a 17th and myself er, well not so good in 40th but glad I finished.  Full results here .  Thanks to Carn Wheelers for a tough but fun course.  Next week our cycling neighbours Shimna wheelers host round 9 in Donard Park.  Already a good KCC squad have signed up.  Details on http://ulstercyclocross.com/

Also we had a good show on the regular Sunday run with over 20 out enjoying a steady spin round by the Dee:
