CX is back!!
The cyclo-cross season has begun and it is great to see more Killinchy riders taking up this fun (but tough) sport!
Friday night was the first round of the Kinning Cycles CX league at Orangefield in Belfast. This was a fast course which had a bit of everything – grass slopes, switchbacks, boggy grass, planks, pallets and even a lap of the velodrome! The floodlights were a great addition this year which added to the atmosphere and making it even more spectator friendly. We had Ross, Rod, Michael and Richard compete in the B race. Results here .
We didn’t have much of a rest as Sunday was the 1st round of the Ulster league at Lurgan Park hosted by Apollo CT. After the heavy rain on Saturday the course was er, a bit sticky! – but again really good fun with nice sections through the trees and the river splash which helped clean the tyres – a bit!! We had the Maitland boys and young Croskery in the junior races, Ross in the B CX race and Scott in his last MTB support race before he makes the jump to CX – and didn’t he leave in style!! (see results here )
The next race is round 2 of the ulster league this Sunday at Falls park in Belfast. Over 300 pre entered already!
