First Cyclo-cross race of the season

Published by admin on

On Friday evening 11th September GP Kinning Cycles kick started the cyclocross season with their event at the Orangefield velodrome and playing fields in Belfast.  Killinchy CC’s XC machine Scott Maitland entered the MTB support race and finished up with a superb 2nd place.  For the CX B race it was the our own TT king Paul Crossen who flew the KCC flag, finishing an excellent 5th in the 6 lap race.  The final race of the night was the 7 lap CX A race which I (Ross) DNF’d due to a crash which led to a mechanical on the 4th lap!  Ah well it is CX!! (and it was wet and getting dark…..) Thanks goes to Kinning cycles and all the helpers for a great evening.  We even got a burger and chips afterwards!  The course was excellent and we hope to see it on the calendar again next year.  Roll on 4 October for the ulster league!
