KCC Racing Success

KCC are celebrating multiple wins and podium finishes across adult and children’s races within the last week.

On Saturday 28th February Paul Crossen lined out in the ‘A4’ category at the John Moore Memorial Road Race in Carryduff. Congratulations to Paul who lead a breakaway in the last lap, and held off the challengers to take 1st place in a runaway victory. The picture below confirms that the result was in no doubt.

Sunday saw the third and final round of the XMTB Spring League. KCC have been well represented throughout as previous reports have noted. This week was no different, once again Josh & Rudi assumed their now customary 1st and 3rd spots, and KCC riders took part in four of the underage categories.

Across the three rounds the following deserve recognition for turning out, wearing the KCC colours in some horrible conditions and putting our club on the map in terms of underage competition.

When the results were in, it was no surprise to see Josh and Rudi dominating the podium, well done to the medal winners!

In the adult races, Michael & Geoff once again contested the B race and Scott & Ross lined out in the A race. Another podium finish for KCC as Michael finished 3rd overall in the league standings, not bad for his first off road races, well done Michael!

Aside from competitive cycling, KCC had 6 members donate their Saturday to complete the CI Foundation in Cycling Coaching course at Jordanstown. We now boast male and female safeguarding officers, 15 access checked cycling leaders, and 6 coaches. Great news for the club development.

The Sunday B run completed a tough cycle into the wind towards Hillsborough before turning to freewheel home. Aiming to become a regular fixture in the club calendar the B run is a great place for people to start out on club rides or for experienced riders to take in a few more leisurely miles. Details of upcoming fixtures on the Facebook group.
