Three ‘Big’ Sportives for Co Down in 2015
The routes & dates have been confirmed for three of the biggest sportives in Northern Ireland in 2015. Online entries are now open and they are on our doorstep!
Spring Classic – 22 March
70 km of familiar roads to many of our members, centering on the historic Montalto Estate in Ballynahinch. An achievable distance for most riders and the promise of beer & frites to finish sounds like just the ticket.
Big Italian Bike Ride – 3rd May
Back again after an overwhelming success last year. Celebrating the first anniversary of the Giro d’Italia visiting these parts, the route is all new taking in some of KCC’s most travelled roads and the infamous Dree Hill on Slieve Croob. The only thing missing will be a run up Spelga having cycled all the way to Hilltown!
Etape Mourne – 23 August
The annual climb-fest in the Mournes has moved from a spring to late summer date this year with a slightly revised route departing Castlewellan. As usual riders will be invited to top Spelga from all three directions, and the new date will allow plenty of summer training before the event
