Team Madigan host Larne Cyclocross
It was a damp and windy day at Seacourt in Larne for round 6 of the Ulster CX series. The course was very similar to last year held on the playing fields which was nearly all grass/mud apart from a short length of tarmac path. The KCC headers this week were Elliot in U10s, Reuben and Andrew in U12s, CX newbie Andrew E in the mtb support, Richard in Bs, Drew in U16s, Scott and myself (Ross) in the As.
After Scott’s great result last week, the bad luck returned when he cut the calf of his leg on the chainwheel before the race even started! The cut so too deep to race and he ended up with 5 stitches! The course really cut up with deep boggy sections and slippy as ice hardpack hairpin turns and off-camber slopes.
Well done to all the KCCers again and to Drew on his 2nd place. Thanks to Team Madigan and all the volunteers for another well organised race and for the tea and hotdogs after. Results here .
Round 7 is this Sunday in Ormeau park, Belfast – hope to see plenty there! Info here . Thanks to the Belgium Project and Michael Armstrong for the Cx pics.
