Pre-race training has begun

Published by admin on

Now the race season is drawing closer some of our members are using the reliabilities for training and the first of these was last Saturday at Ballymena CC, were the two Andy’s turned up to support the event. They were in the ‘A’ group that covered 75 miles at over 22+ average, so a big well done to these gents, and a nice way to break in your new Venge, however some other members still believe it was the wheels he bought that made it go quicker 😉
We have also had an influx in Limited Competition & Full Open license members this year, so to try and build up for the opening race run by Banbridge CC at Annaclone 20/02/16, we have been making the most of the poor weather conditions and travelling into Belfast’s Harbour Estate to practise various race scenarios, so these new riders to the race environment can get some sort of experience before they attend their first races. And in the mix of all this training is our new youth U14 MTB champion Drew Armstrong, who is proving to be no slouch when it comes to sprinting and threshold training (one to watch out for)
Our spin classes run by committee member Peter Disney are also a success as he has now two running consecutively on Thursday nights at Jubilee Rd in Ards, so if you are interested in these contact him via Facebook or through KCC FB page.
On another note some of our ladies have started to utilise their free time on Friday mornings to go road or off road cycling (weather dependant), this is great to see and hopefully its the foundation stone for a regular club ride for those free on Friday’s and wishing to attend.
