KCC well presented at Cycling Ulster Awards
We may only be a small club in comparison to many other clubs that are well established throughout the province, however we had members who worked hard, attended various disciplined categories of races throughout the seasons and WON.
During the evening we had a three course meal (which saw Scott’s eyes bigger than his belly, or was it just Heather’s mash), and to finish the evening off we had tea/coffee during the awards. The awards went on for a lengthy time due to the amount of categories, age groups and different disciplines covered, however it was great to see many youth and juniors receive awards and the applause and smiles on their faces was great to see. And in the mix with those winning was young Reuben Maitland who won the Ulster CX MTB support races in the U10 category.
Next was our new signee onto the KCC black and orange brigade, Drew Armstrong who won the U14 Ulster MTB Gold medal and 1st place in the league.
Then we had Scott Maitland, who is beginning to become a popular figure along with all his family at these off road events, and he won the S3 MTB Gold medal & the CX MTB support 2015 series.
And finally after a long wait that seemed to take forever to arrive, we had Cycling Ulster’s volunteer of the year award and out of those nominated by Cycling Ulster members, this was received by Jane McCabe for recognition and dedication to her club.
Thanks to all who supported our riders and members throughout 2015 and here’s looking forward to bigger and better success for 2016.
